As parents, we were constantly frustrated by the stress and wasted time whenever our children lost something at school. We would run around checking changing rooms, lost property bins, and classrooms — often more than once — just hoping to find a misplaced blazer, jumper, or water bottle. Items were often dumped haphazardly in unlabelled boxes, with no record or tracking, leaving them vulnerable to being picked up by mistake — or worse, taken. With the cost of uniforms, shoes, and kits rising, this was not only stressful but financially frustrating.

We also saw hygiene issues first-hand. Our children’s forgotten swimwear or PE socks would sometimes turn up days or weeks later, damp and musty, having sat untouched in a communal pile. The process wasn’t just inefficient — it was unsightly and unsanitary.

More importantly, we saw how losing something made our children upset — whether it was a favourite jumper, a school project, or sports kit. It disrupted their confidence, affected participation, and added unnecessary anxiety to the school day. That’s something no child should have to deal with.
